The practice area consists of multiple specialties. This is a critical access hospital set in a beautiful community. The OB practice includes a mix of OB/GYNs and Family Practitioners. The role involves providing OB and GYN call coverage through the Labor and Delivery Unit and Emergency Department. The facility has a total of 25 beds with 3 Labor and Delivery beds. There is a Level I Nursery and a Level I Trauma unit for patients 36 weeks and older. The workload includes low risk pregnancies and some high risk cases. Typical cases involve routine and complicated deliveries, including C-sections and VBACs. The provider is expected to manage routine GYN surgeries and emergencies. Support staff includes medical assistants or LPNs in the clinic and RNs in the hospital. There will be no other OB/GYNs present during locum coverage. Providers must be able to handle OB inductions and emergent GYN surgeries. Call coverage typically involves 6-8 shifts per month. Average callback hours are estimated at 8.2 hours on weekdays and 9.4 hours on weekends. The response time for calls is 20 minutes. The facility performs approximately 20-30 deliveries per month, with fewer than 10 high risk cases. Rounding is only required in the post-operative setting. The locum will provide care autonomously while on call, though collaboration with colleagues is available. Anesthesia staff are on site with a 30-minute response time for procedures. This position will not involve credentialing hurdles for other facilities. The credentialing process is expected to be completed within 3 months. Prior history of malpractice or criminal activity must be disclosed for candidacy.
