Job Title: Roadway and Bridge Inspector Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Construction Inspector (Roadways and Bridges) to observe and inspect civil engineering construction work to ensure it conforms with project specifications. This role involves inspecting the reconstruction and reconfiguration of major interchanges, bridges, and roadway expansions. Responsibilities * Perform field construction inspection and documentation services on commercial, municipal, institutional, and heavy highway and bridge projects. * Inspect the reconstruction and reconfiguration of I-285/I-20 West Interchange, including bridge replacements, widenings, and roadway expansions. * Conduct inspections on 21 bridges, including rebuilding, adding, or modifying structures such as walls, retained earth structures, and concrete walls. * Observe the construction of pile and lagging walls, mass earth fills, embankments, rock cuts, blasting, and concrete paving. * Assist experienced inspectors with complex construction assignments on active roadway and bridge projects. * Prepare detailed and timely reports to document construction progress, inspection, and testing results. * Review job site safety daily, taking immediate action to document and resolve issues. * Ensure compliance with OSHA Safety Standards and corporate policies. * Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, staff, and supervisors to resolve problems at the lowest level. * Maintain necessary records, measure field quantities, and conduct field tests to ensure compliance with contract specifications. Essential Skills * 2+ years of civil inspection experience specifically in roadway, bridge, and reinforced concrete projects. * ACI/FCON (GDOT Concrete Cert) Field Concrete Certificate. * Proficiency in computer skills, including software such as Procore, Heavy Jobs, E Builders, Bentley Synchro, Excel, Microsoft Suite, Word, and PDF Editor. * Experience in reinforced concrete inspection. * Ability to understand construction plans, specifications, and procedures. * Basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry. * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Additional Skills & Qualifications * High school diploma or GED. * Experience in soils, asphalt or aggregate, and soil mechanics is beneficial. * Traffic control experience is helpful. * Experience with bridge foundations, pile driving, drilled shafts, and spread footing is advantageous. * Additional certifications such as NICET, ICCs, GDOT CEIT Program, and Pit Testing are helpful. Work Environment The role requires working independently on civil construction projects and assisting with complex assignments. The inspector must be physically capable of performing field inspections in various weather conditions, including night shifts. A company vehicle with a gas card is provided for travel to job sites. The project involves a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at alleviating congestion and improving safety in metro Atlanta's heavily traveled corridors. The work environment includes active construction sites, requiring adherence to safety standards and effective communication with project teams.
