Job Description

The Behavioral Health Clinician is a Master's-level licensed or license-eligible therapist responsible for providing comprehensive mental health services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. This role supports individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health conditions and may operate across multiple service lines, including outpatient therapy, crisis assessment and intervention, and specialized programming (e.g., Applied Behavior Analysis), depending on program assignment. The Clinician promotes recovery, symptom stabilization, and improved functioning through person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care.RESPONSIBILITIESProvide individual, group, and family therapy utilizing evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, DBT-informed approaches, trauma-informed care)Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and psychiatric assessments, including suicide and risk evaluationsFormulate DSM-5 diagnoses and assess appropriate levels of care using standardized tools (e.g., LOCUS)Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized, measurable treatment plans in collaboration with clientsMonitor client progress, adjust interventions, and support achievement of clinical goals and outcomesDeliver crisis intervention, de-escalation, and stabilization services for individuals in acute distressCoordinate care and facilitate referrals to appropriate levels of care, including outpatient, intensive outpatient, residential, or inpatient servicesProvide psychoeducation to clients and families regarding mental health conditions, coping strategies, and recovery processesDeliver Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, including behavior assessments and intervention planning, when applicable to program assignmentMaintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with Rule 132, Medicaid, and other regulatory standardsEnsure adherence to ethical standards, confidentiality requirements (HIPAA), and professional scope of practiceCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, case managers, nurses, and external providers, to ensure coordinated and holistic careParticipate in clinical supervision, case consultation, and team meetings to support quality care deliveryEngage in ongoing professional development to maintain licensure and enhance clinical competenciesQUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a closely related behavioral health field requiredStrong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skillsKnowledge of DSM-5 criteria and level-of-care determination tools (e.g., LOCUS)Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic modalitiesAbility to manage crisis situations with sound clinical judgment and professionalismStrong interpersonal and engagement skills with diverse populationsEffective collaboration and communication within multidisciplinary teamsHigh level of organization and attention to detail in documentation and complianceCultural humility and commitment to equitable, person-centered careExperience providing psychotherapy to individuals with mental health disorders across diverse populations preferredExperience with crisis intervention, risk assessment, and higher levels of care coordination strongly preferredExperience working in community mental health or outpatient settings preferredExperience with evidence-based practices and documentation requirements (e.g., Medicaid/Rule 132) preferredCERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURELicensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or license-eligible requiredIllinois licensure (or ability to obtain) requiredQualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) designation required for crisis/assessment rolesBoard Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required for ABA-specific rolesPHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to conduct therapy sessionsAbility to sit for extended periods while documenting servicesAbility to travel locally for home visits or meetings when requiredBENEFITSComprehensive Benefits Package, including:Medical, Dental, and Vision CoveragePaid Time Off (PTO) & Holidays403(b) Retirement Plan with Employer ContributionsLife Insurance & Disability CoverageTuition Reimbursement & Professional Development OpportunitiesEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONSThis job description is to ensure that essential functions and basic duties have been included. Employees in this role are required to comply with annual TB testing as part of workplace health and safety protocols.
