Ability to recognize emergent patient situations and respond appropriately. Ability to function independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills with caregivers and patients. Ability to prioritize tasks. Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff. Description: The CT Technologist performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position requires ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to perform high-quality scans. The technologist maintains ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job. They understand and operate CT equipment and related information systems to ensure the production of quality images. Proper patient identification and order verification are essential before preparing the patient for the exam. Exams are performed per department protocol. Images are reviewed and evaluated for quality, clarity, and accuracy to ensure that all necessary anatomical structures are captured. Adherence to radiation safety guidelines is critical to maintain a safe working environment for patients and staff. Studies must be completed within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination. The technologist provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient or family concerns. Coordination of patient care and communication of pertinent information to other care providers are essential. Practicing appropriate infection control and sterile techniques is required. Accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents must be kept. Following appropriate protocols for medical necessity, coding, and charging are essential duties. The technologist administers contrast media to patients under physician supervision as ordered and provides education regarding safety concerns. Staying updated with the latest advancements in CT technology and techniques is expected through ongoing professional development. The position may also include assisting and instructing students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
