Organization Overview Our laboratory is devoted primarily to investigating platelet physiology, thrombosis, vascular biology, and adhesion phenomena in sickle cell disease. We study the basic molecular interactions between blood cells and the blood vessel. Our studies span from basic molecular structure to complex phenomena such as thrombosis in intact animals. Our goal is to use the knowledge of the molecular interactions to develop new therapies for thrombosis and sickle cell disease. Overview We are looking for a Research Assistant to join our team to study platelet physiology, focusing on the role of platelet activation via the alphaIIbbeta3 and FcyRIIa receptor with the goal of developing novel inhibitors of the activation. Responsibilities Responsibilities include: * Flow cytometry * Advanced microscopy (confocal, STEM, etc.) * Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting * High throughput screening of small molecules * Analysis of mass spectrometry data Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree required * At least 3 months of platelet physiology research, involving platelet activation and advanced microscopy.
