The Senior Mental Health Clinician (SMHC) involves both clinical and administrative supervisory support to the clinical supervisors, as well as direct clinical care with incarcerated patients. The SMHC will report to one of the Clinical Deputy Directors assigned to the same facility. Responsibilities include:Perform, or assist with, administrative supervision of Mental Health Clinicians (MHCs) as assignedParticipate in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of MHCs and associated tasksAssist with the orientation, mentorship, and training of MHCsConduct monthly in-service didactics and trainings that are relate to the MHC roleProvide clinical coverage as needed for MHCs or Clinical Supervisors (CS)Supplement clinical supervision of the MHCs when coverage for Clinical Supervisors (CSs) is needed, including reviewing and completing documentation and providing feedback on diagnostic formulations and treatment planningAssist the CSs in reviewing patient charts and completing clinical formulations and referrals as neededCo-lead group counseling sessions with interdisciplinary colleagues in the Mental Health service as time permitsServe as a facility liaison with the Reentry Social Work Supervisor on site Engage in clinical supervision with supervisor at least 45 minutes weekly and additionally as neededParticipate in mental health rounds, treatment team meetings, mandatory trainings, and didactic activitiesEngage in quality assurance and quality improvement activities as directed by central Mental Health leadershipCo-sign documentation as assignedOther relevant clinical or administrative tasks as directed by the Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Deputy Director, Clinical Director, Senior Psychiatrist, Unit Chief, or other designee.Minimum Qualifications1. Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health discipline issued by theNew York State Education Department (NYSED); and2.
