The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Geisinger is seeking an experienced, AP or AP/CP boarded pathologist with subspecialty expertise in GI/Liver due to growth in the system.Job DutiesGeisinger's core laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility located in Danville, PA with a pathology residency program (AP/CP), fellowship programs in cytopathology, dermatopathology, molecular genetics, informatics, and a new fellowship in GI/Liver pathologyLaboratory Medicine performs approximately 10 million billable clinical tests, >100,000 surgical cases, and >36,000 GI/Liver cases yearlyProfessional staff includes 50 pathologists and PhDs, including 4 GI/Liver trained pathologistsMultihospital system recruiting for position at the AP core laboratory site, no travel requiredPathology and laboratory services are integrated across the Geisinger system with pathologists at different sites sharing a common workload in a sub-specialty modelAP-only night/weekend call, shared evenly with 15 pathologists at this locationGeneralist frozen section coverage, shared with >12 pathologists at this locationPotential opportunities for leadership positions within the laboratoryTeaching responsibilities include medical students, residents, and fellows in pathology and non-laboratory specialties Academic appointment available at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of MedicineResearch opportunities availableCompetitive compensation, independent of academic rankPosition DetailsAP/CP or AP board certifiedFellowship training or high level of expertise in GI/Liver pathologyAdditional experience in genitourinary, thoracic, or soft tissue pathology desirableGood communication skills and commitment to collegial teamworkClinical translational research experience preferred, not requiredEducationDoctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine- (Required)Certification(s) and License(s)Licensed Medical Doctor - State of PennsylvaniaSkillsSystems-Based Practice; Patient Care And Procedural Skills; Professional EtiquetteAbout GeisingerFounded more than 100 years ago by Abigail Geisinger, the system now includes ten hospital campuses, a 550,000-member health plan, two research centers and the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
