The Director of Quality / Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) provides strategic and hands-on leadership for Quality and EH&S programs across a multi-site Texas manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for ensuring product reliability, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and workplace safety. The Director owns the Quality Management System, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process, customer quality performance, and environmental health and safety compliance while driving continuous improvement initiatives.This position operates in a lean organization and requires a highly engaged leader capable of partnering cross-functionally with operations, engineering, supply chain, and executive leadership.YOUR DAY TO DAY:Quality Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and execute multi-site quality strategy aligned with corporate objectivesLead and mentor a lean Quality organizationEstablish quality KPIs and performance reportingMaintain and improve ISO 9001 Quality Management SystemProvide quality input to proposals and customer requirementsManage departmental staffing, budgets, and capital planningRoot Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)Serve as executive owner of RCCA across the organizationLead investigations for customer complaints, field failures, and nonconformancesImplement structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, 5-Why, Fishbone)Drive containment, corrective action, and effectiveness verificationTrack metrics including closure time, recurrence, and systemic improvementsCustomer Quality LeadershipAct as senior quality interface to commercial and government customersLead customer audits and quality reviewsManage corrective action responses and audit findingsRepresent organization during inspections and source auditsOperational Quality ExcellenceDrive improvements in First Pass Yield, Cost of Quality, and reliabilityReduce NCRs and recurring defectsLead MRB activities and disposition processesImplement quality gates and defect prevention controlsQuality System GovernanceMaintain ISO 9001 compliance and customer quality requirementsOversee internal and external auditsEnsure configuration control and document control integrityEnvironmental Health & Safety LeadershipLead EH&S programs across multiple facilitiesEnsure OSHA and environmental regulatory complianceDrive safety culture and risk reduction initiativesLead incident investigations and corrective actionsMonitor and improve safety performance metricsOperational ExcellencePartner with operations to improve yield and product performanceLead continuous improvement initiativesSupport Lean Manufacturing deploymentYOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVEEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field12-15+ years of manufacturing quality experience5+ years leading quality organizationsExperience in aerospace, defense, electronics, or high-reliability manufacturing preferredLean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferredRequired QualificationsU.S. Citizenship is required for this position.Expertise in Root Cause Corrective Action leadershipExperience with ISO 9001 Quality Management SystemsKnowledge of IPC and J-STD standardsStrong customer-facing leadership experienceMulti-site manufacturing quality leadership experienceKnowledge of FAR, DFAR, and government contract requirementsExperience with configuration control and supplier quality flow-downStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsMust be able to travel up to 20% between Texas locations.Preferred QualificationsASQ Certification (CQE, CMQ/OE, etc.)Experience leading both Quality and EH&S functionsExperience supporting government contractsAbility to review customer quality clausesFamiliarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)SHAPING THE FUTURE THROUGH INNOVATION AND DISCOVERY!With a history spanning more than seven decades, Communications & Power Industries' thousands of products have impacted people's lives in numerous unseen ways every day.
