To wear JCC Staff ID badge and attend appropriate staff meetings.Position Summary: We're hiring a Childcare Attendant to provide safe, nurturing care for infants through grade-school-aged children in our Fitness Center daycare at the JCC. This role goes beyond casual babysitting. You'll help create a daycare-style environment where children feel comfortable, engaged, and supported while their parents/guardians use the facility. Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain active supervision of children at all times, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and required staff-to-child ratios Monitor children for signs of illness, injury, or unsafe behavior and respond appropriately Change diapers in accordance with sanitation procedures and ODJFS licensing requirements, including proper handwashing and disinfecting of surfaces Clean and sanitize all toys, equipment, and surfaces at the end of each shift in accordance with established health and sanitation standards Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding their child's activities, behavior, and any incidents or concerns Follow all applicable ODJFS licensing requirements and Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) standards in daily operations Lead age-appropriate activities (play, reading, simple crafts) to actively engage children Ensure children remain within designated childcare area and follow check-in/check-out procedures Respond appropriately to accidents, injuries, or behavioral issues and document incidents per protocol Enforce childcare policies (time limits, illness policies, behavior expectations) Verify parent/guardian identity during drop-off and pick-up Maintain accurate child attendance records during each shift Perform additional duties as assigned to support childcare and fitness center operationQualifications:1. Knowledge and Education - Minimum Required or Preferred: High School Diploma / GED2. Experience - Minimum Required or Preferred: Experience working with infants through grade school aged children. Customer Service experience is preferred.3. Special Skills: CPR/AED/First Aid Certification preferred; must enjoy children; must be responsible and dependable with strong communication and organizational skills; able to lift 30 pounds on a routine basis.4. Activities: Able to participate in outdoor and indoor activities.
