You will contribute to a campus culture that embraces our core values.Job Description/SummaryAdjunct Faculty - Anatomy supports the College of Naturopathic Medicine - Anatomy Lab by demonstrating initiative and competence contributing to teach medical anatomy, gross anatomy, anatomy lab, and related biomedical sciences to students preparing to become naturopathic doctors, to participate in scholarly endeavors, and to provide service the University, community, and profession; to be an active member of the Sonoran University community promoting it mission, vision, and core values.The Adjunct Faculty - Anatomy supports or is directly responsible for the following:Develop course content, format, evaluation techniques and other course requirements as stated in the course syllabus, with input from the Department Chair, Division Director, and Dean, College of Naturopathic Medicine.Being familiar with all coursework and course requirements.Agree to use the syllabus template approved and provided by the University and to place instructional materials online using the currently approved Canvas software.Materials must be completed by the deadline established by the Academic Coordinator.The College agrees to provide training to Adjunct Faculty in the use of the Learning Management System and other electronic systems used for instruction and/or communication in the College.Improve instruction by utilizing feedback from a variety of sources such as peer faculty, self-reflection, students, and administrators.Utilize course assessments to measure student learning and improve teaching.Upon invitation of Department Chair/Division Director, at the end of each course: Review course delivery and course evaluations to discuss areas of strength and areas of improvementMake recommendations for curriculum or delivery change based on teaching experience and student feedbackUpon invitation of Department Chair/Division Director, provide feedback about, and assistance with, academic program assessment and accreditation efforts.Proactively support students by: Replying to students' posts with constructive and timely feedback which encourage discussionContacting individual students who have not completed coursework by the due dateProviding timely and constructive feedback for assignments and assessments Evaluating and assigning grades for all assignmentsEnsuring that final grades are submitted as required by the RegistrarMentoring students through the program to become successful professionalsAll faculty are de facto members of the Faculty Senate and are invited to attend/stream monthly meetings.Maintain respectful professional exchanges with faculty, staff, administrators, students, according to the Faculty Code of ConductMaintain active licensure, as appropriate.Required to save all student exams, student assignments, and other student work for one year. Advise the Academic Coordinator at the earliest possibility if unable to teach a class.Respond within 24 hours to any inquiries from students and/or College staff.Comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).Comply with all Sonoran University employment policies and procedures.Complete any other training deemed necessary by the Dean, College of Naturopathic or the Chief Human Resources Officer.Experience RequiredBreadth of knowledge to effectively teach in anatomy, gross anatomy, anatomy lab, and related basic medical sciencesAbility to inspire, using a positive attitude, confidence, commitment, with effective oral and written communication skills, creativity, intuition, honesty, and ability to delegateAbility to provide high quality learning experience in the classroom/laboratoryExcellent organizational skills and ability to work independently and follow through on multiple assignments in a timely mannerEffectively work as a team member with diverse constituenciesAbility to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlinesAble to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding faculty, staff, and student issuesEarned doctorate or ABD in anatomy or in a related biomedical sciences field, or a qualified first professional doctorate degree (i.e. ND, DC, MD, DO) from a regionally accredited institution (if candidate with medical degree is selected, there may be opportunities to participate in clinical education in the Sonoran Medical Centers and extended site clinics-requires Arizona licenseCollege teaching experience required; medical school teaching preferred; online teaching experience desiredAbility to teach in other areas of the biomedical sciences in addition to the area of anatomy is a preference and highly recommendedAbility to participate in a culture of transparency, quality assurance, and continuous improvement in student learningEducation RequirementsMinimum Education/Certifications Bachelor's degree in field related to area of assignment.Desired Education/Certifications Master's degree in field related to area of assignment.Background/screeningAll candidates offered a position at Sonoran University undergo a background and drug screen prior to hire.
