OverviewBuild your career at US Aggregates! The Area Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating mining operations across multiple sites within a designated area. This role ensures that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and within budget, while maintaining compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. The manager will lead site managers and operational teams, drive continuous improvement, and implement strategic initiatives to optimize performance. This role will oversee our plant operations in the Northern Indiana Region, which includes Lowell, Francesville, and Monon. The desired candidate is expected to reside within that region.ResponsibilitiesOversee daily operations across multiple mining sites, ensuring alignment with company goals and safety standardsDevelop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, reduce costs, and enhance safetyMonitor production metrics, analyze performance data, and prepare regular reports for senior managementEnsure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulationsLead, mentor, and develop site managers and operational staffManage budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation across sitesCoordinate with maintenance, engineering, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operationsFoster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellenceLiaise with stakeholders including regulatory agencies, contractors, and community representativesAdditional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skillsEducation QualificationsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent requiredBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Geology, Business, or a related field preferredExperience Qualifications8+ years of crushed stone operations at a large output plant or multiple sites requiredDemonstrated experience working in MSHA-regulated environments, with strong knowledge of MSHA safety standards, compliance requirements, and operational best practices requiredSkills And AbilitiesStrong knowledge of mining processes, safety regulations, and environmental complianceProven leadership and team management skillsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilitiesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in operational software and reporting toolsExperience with sand, gravel and limestone mining operationsDemonstrated expertise in preventive maintenance practices, ensuring equipment reliability and optimal performanceFamiliarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologiesAbility to manage change and drive innovation in a dynamic environment, preferredWillingness and flexibility to travel 50% or more to support project and business needs within the designated regionLicenses and CertificationsValid Driver's license and a clear driving record requiredAbout US AggregatesUS Aggregates is a privately held, family-owned business headquartered in Indianapolis.
