OverviewGAI Consultants, Inc is seeking an experienced Roadway Project Engineer to work within our Indiana Transportation Team. The successful candidate will be a hard-working individual who enjoys a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment. The candidate will use their related experience to jump right into a variety of new projects for INDOT and Local Municipalities that are in the early phases of design. Our Midwest Roadway Team is looking for a candidate who is willing to share their expertise through teaching others, but also eager to learn new skills and grow professionally in today/'s global environment. This position is eligible for GAI/'s flexible hybrid work schedules.ResponsibilitiesRoadway design for INDOT and Local Public Agency (LPA) clientsCreates and reviews project design calculations, quantities takeoffs, specifications, plans and contract documents.Works within the Transportation Team assigning responsibilities.Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.Attend project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.Conduct analysis choosing appropriate applications.Works within project schedules and budgets.Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior engineers in the development of plans, reports, and plete training on assigned tasks.Applies INDOT design manual and AAHTO principles to highway design.Utilizes roadway design CADD software.Knowledge of road design software such as Open RoadsParticipate in occasional site visits in construction sites and remote outdoor work environments.Occasional travel to client meetings and site visits.Minimum RequirementsBachelor/'s degree in civil engineeringProfessional Engineer/'s license in Indiana or the ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months.Strong team collaboration, oral and written communication, design expertise, and problem-solving skills are required.Experience with INDOT standards, specifications, and deliverables for Federally Funded ProjectsProficiency in CADDExperience14+ years of experience.EducationB.S. EngineeringCertification/LicensureProfessional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states.Technical ResponsibilitiesServes as the technical advisor for the organization in the application of advanced concepts and methods in an assigned area.Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs or applications.Develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products.Values and analyzes sustainable performance of complex engineering projects from a systems perspective.Project and Task ManagementOversees a project team of engineers and technicians.Plans, schedules, and coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects or is responsible for an entire program of an organization.Analyzes project management plans for complex engineering projects.Understands project delivery uncertainties and uses risk management principles to address them.Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesManagement, Supervision and GuidanceReceives administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.Provides continued mentored experience to senior tegrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of engineering and fosters creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability in municationApplies principles of formal strategic and persuasive communications.Represents their area of specialty within the organization and liaises with related individuals and organizations.Routinely interacts with organizational leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and tegrates concepts of effective teamwork and leadership, including justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and advocates for application of these concepts.Considers social equity and environmental impact of engineering decisions.Why GAIGAI is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse environment.
