Position Title: Research Assistant Requisition Number: 0406073787 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: PSD/Dean's Office Responsibilities: The Graduate Research Assistant position is designed to support the early stages of a faculty research project examining the historical experiences and contributions of African American women in wartime initiatives during World War II. Grounded in an interdisciplinary framework that integrates fashion studies, cultural studies, and social history, the project investigates how visual media, dress practices, and material culture shaped intersections of race, gender, labor, and citizenship. The primary purpose of this role is to help build the intellectual, historiographical, and archival foundation necessary for the project's long-term development. Through literature synthesis, primary source identification, research mapping, and organizational infrastructure, the RA contributes to clarifying key themes, identifying scholarly interventions, and locating relevant visual and textual evidence. Responsibilities: ●Searching for grant opportunities and identifying ones that alight with the project ● Reviewing grant requirements and deadlines ● Working with faculty member to draft materials in preparation for a full grant proposal(s) ● More specifically, the RA contribution to grant writing will likely be in the form of reviews of literature, budget preparation, and formatting and compliance checking ● Each duty/responsibility helps fulfill the role's core purpose which is securing external funding by finding appropriate grants opportunities and contributing meaningfully to high-quality proposal development. Work Mode: * Hybrid/Remote - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions. Hourly Rate: $31.37/hour.
