This role is ideal for a California licensed P.E. with 5+ years of experience who enjoys leading technical delivery, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to impactful horizontal infrastructure projects. You'll work closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver roadway, highway, and multimodal corridor projects - helping shape the future of transportation across the region.ResponsibilitiesLead technical design and delivery of transportation projects, including roadway rehabilitation, new alignments, retaining walls, curbs, traffic improvements, wildlife crossings, highways, roundabouts, and corridorsOrganize project workflows, establish design criteria, and delegate tasks to junior staffMake decisions on specific project elements and consult with senior leadership on complex issues Support QA/QC implementation and identify out-of-scope servicesMentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teamsAssist in coordinating sub-consultant work and ensure cohesive project executionAttend project meetings and represent BKF as a secondary point-of-contactContribute to proposal development and cross-sell BKF's services to regional clientsManage assigned project elements within established budgets and timelinesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited programCalifornia Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) licenses will be prioritizedMinimum 5 years of experience in transportation infrastructure design and project delivery meant> Strong background in roadway and highway design, including staged construction and controlsFamiliarity with Caltrans standards, permitting processes, and public agency coordinationProficiency in geometric design and AutoCAD/Civil 3D and project management toolsExcellent communication and collaboration skills, both verbal and writtenOccasional travel required between BKF offices and client sitePhysical DemandsMust be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.Work ConditionsExposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.BenefitsThe typical base salary range for this position is $103,000.00 - $142,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
