Join the Clean Energy Revolution New Business Planning Senior Specialist At Southern California Edison (SCE) you will partner closely with developers to design and deliver sophisticated electrical distribution plans for new development projects. You will also serve as a trusted mentor, elevating team capabilities through knowledge sharing, while continuously evolving your own expertise in a dynamic, growth"‘oriented environment. Responsibilities Conduct long"‘term grid import planning analyses, transmission interconnection assessments, and projects, managing large design projects from inception to construction completion and ensuring compliance of electrical designs. Support the company's electrical distribution system by developing and designing plans, identifying necessary resources, and providing cost estimates and options for construction of distribution facilities. Make decisions that directly impact project scope, timing, scope, and budget. Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to the planning and development review process and verify compliance with approved plans. Assess the capabilities of the regional distribution system and its compliance with planning criteria. Conduct power flow studies, build power flow models, and prepare economic analyses to develop short"‘ and long"‘term distribution system plans. Ensure the distribution system performance meets reliability targets and analyze outages for cause, trends, and duration. Coordinate activities with internal personnel and other organizations to ensure compliance and follow"‘through of policies, procedures, rules, rates, and completion dates applicable to assigned projects. Stay current on industry practices, standards, and customer needs, interacting with a diverse customer base to meet electrical design needs and provide successful outcomes for customers and SCE. Provide training and support, assessing and managing workload when necessary. Protect the company's physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets and handle private customer data, proprietary information, and highly sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications Three or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution/Transmission/Telecommunication Design, Distribution/Transmission/Telecommunication Line Construction, or Engineering discipline. Possess a valid Class C Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications Proven ability to apply engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices. Experience determining scope of work, method of service, and OH/UG construction methods. Proficiency with wind/pole loading applications, drafting systems, GIS, or related design systems (e.g., SPIDA Calc, Autodesk AUD, cGIS, SAP, or equivalents). Experience preparing work orders, construction plans, or project packages. Ability to manage multiple technical or customer projects under shifting priorities. Ability to collaborate effectively across teams (clients, peers, management, agencies). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Leadership or mentorship experience. Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience managing customer or stakeholder interactions in a technical, construction, or utility environment, providing clear information, addressing inquiries, and coordinating solutions. Experience reviewing maps and verifying quality; QC experience. Experience in commercial or large mixed"‘use projects. Demonstrated project management with internal and external stakeholders. Additional Information This position is hybrid; the employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in the state of California unless otherwise noted; details of the work mode will be discussed at interview. The primary work location is the Thousand Oaks Service Center, though the successful candidate may also be asked to work at alternate locations for extended periods. Position requires up to 25% traveling and field work throughout the SCE service territory. Position offers options for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or a standard 40"‘hour/5"‘day week.
