Job Description

Job Summary Test and measures eye function to assist Ophthalmologist in diagnosing and treating eye disorders and diseases. Prepares and closes exam rooms at the beginning and end of the day, performs drug and supply inventory and stocking, supports multiple physicians across multiple offices, traveling as needed. Obtains consents, authorizations, and schedules follow"‘up appointments. Performs scribing duties and assists with clinical trials. Helps with telephone appointments, patient check"‘in/out, and insurance verification. Handles cash and performs end"‘of"‘day reconciliation as needed. Essential Functions Test patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, visual field, and tonometry and enter data into EMR. Dilate eyes. Perform Optical Coherence Tomography (OCTs) and Fundus Autofluorescence (FAFs). Obtain and record new patient history and review established patient history. Scribe all exam results in EMR. Perform OCT, FAF, Fluorescein Angiography, and Fundus Photography on various devices. Maintain photography supplies, cameras, and equipment. Manage all phases of fluorescein angiography, fundus photography, optical coherence tomography, and ICG angiography. Position patients, obtain consents, identify retinal landmarks, and determine right/left fundus. Correct selection of seven fields based on diagnosis, adequate focusing, and adaptation for media opacities. Maintain digital imaging databases. Handle all phases of image management system: storage, labeling, archiving, and retrieval. Inventory photography supplies and maintain backup equipment. Maintain and repair OCT and camera equipment; archive digital images appropriately. Communicate information with physicians and update staff, leadership, EMR, etc. as applicable. Open and close exam rooms, sterilize equipment, restock rooms, and perform drug and medical supply inventory. Have knowledge of common diagnoses, procedures, and instrumentation. Update patient information in MDI and NextGen. Work with Practice Lead to identify patients' needs and provide solutions. Ensure HIPAA compliance and privacy guidelines in EMR/PM systems. Adhere to OSHA Category"¯I exposure guidelines (blood, bodily fluids, tissues). Follow OSHA and infectious waste procedures; maintain photography logs. Possess strong computer skills and multitasking ability. Meet departmental team targets. Implement HIPAA rules: obtain two patient identifiers each interaction. Assist with rooming patients and procedure setup as needed. Check out and schedule follow"‘up appointments. Excellent communication. One to two years of past medical clinic experience required. Education Required or Equivalent Minimum high school diploma. College degree or continuing education courses desirable. Physical Standards, Including Lifting and Pushing Requirements Remain stationary for at least 50"¯% of the shift, frequently move within the office, and lift up to 50"¯lb. Communicate with patients and document in EMR and practice management system. Travel Requirements Travel between three home offices and periodic travel to other clinic locations as needed. Equipment Use telephone and office equipment such as computers, copier, fax, and scanner. Use medical equipment such as exam chairs, imaging equipment, pharmaceutical refrigerators, and diagnostic testing equipment. List Any Unique Conditions of the Position OSHA Category"¯I.
