Job Description

The Rappahannock Tribe is seeking a Grants Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of its grant portfolio, which currently includes approximately 40 active grants ranging from $30,000 to $500,000. This role is responsible for identifying and securing funding opportunities, managing awarded grants, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, private, and tribal regulations (including 2 CFR Part 200). All work will align with the Tribe's strategic priorities, cultural values, and legal obligations. Serving as the primary point of contact for grant-related activities, the Grants Manager collaborates closely with tribal leadership, program staff, finance personnel, and external partners. Key responsibilities include writing proposals, tracking expenditures and deliverables, and submitting timely, accurate reports to funders. The Grants Manager will promote strong interdepartmental coordination, ensure accountability, and support the Tribe's capacity to deliver impactful, grant-funded services to its citizens. Primary Roles and Responsibilities Research and identify new funding opportunities aligned with tribal goals and departmental needs Develop and write compelling grant proposals, budgets, and supporting materials Coordinate proposal development with relevant staff to ensure programmatic and financial alignment Track application deadlines and ensure timely submissions Post-Award Management & Compliance Oversee implementation of awarded grants, including performance tracking and timeline monitoring Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., federal 2 CFR Part 200, state, private funders, and tribal protocols) Maintain organized grant files, contracts, and supporting documentation Prepare and submit timely financial and narrative reports to funders Serve as a liaison between departments, funders, and external partners regarding grant activities Work with the finance team to ensure accurate budgeting, expenditures, and audit readiness Support departments in understanding and fulfilling grant obligations Participate in strategic planning discussions and align grant efforts with tribal priorities Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business, Finance, or related field At least 3 years of experience in grant writing, administration, or management Knowledge of federal grant regulations (especially 2 CFR Part 200) Strong writing, editing, and budgeting skills High attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Proficiency with Microsoft Office and grant tracking systems Familiarity with state and federal grant systems (e.g., Grants.gov, SAM.gov) Location: St. Stephens Church, VA. Position is full-time and hybrid, in office minimum 2-3 days per week. Compensation: $70,000-$75,000 with benefits.
