Position Type: Support Staff/Child Nutrition Assistant Site LeadDate Posted: 4/15/2026Location: Duneland School CorporationDate Available: when filledClosing Date: when filledSUMMARY OF POSITION: A Duneland School Corporation Child Services Nutrition Site Lead is required to provide food services in a safe and lawful manner.. This position has a highly responsible role in providing nutrition and financial services to students and staff on a regular basis. All Duneland employees interact with individuals both inside and out of the corporation and therefore, must have the ability to present a professional and organized image at all times. Starting hourly rate: $16MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in School Nutrition. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1. Respond to requests of information and services in a prompt, efficient and friendly manner. 2. Works closely with the Child Nutrition Manager and Child Nutrition Office Staff to ensure all regulations are followed. 3. Provide an exceptional level of customer service to all students, community members, teachers, co-workers and other staff members. Assure needs are met in a professional, friendly and timely manner. 4. Participates in cooking and monitors day to day operation of the kitchen. 5. Observe safety and security procedures. 6. Uses equipment and materials properly. 7. Provide ongoing training to kitchen staff. 8. Ensure all employees accept delegated authority. 9. This position is required to predict total amounts of meals for planned daily menus. 10. Maintains and cleans cafeteria equipment to meet local, state and federal sanitation standards. 11. Attend sanitation training and obtain and maintain ServeSafe Certification. 12. Keep accurate records.. 13. Serves breakfast and lunch to students and staff. 14. Ensures students receive a reimbursable meal. 15. Ensures Internal Controls are followed including but not limited to, counting cashier bills andmaking daily deposits. 16. Forecasts, orders and receives incoming food and supplies and ensures that delivery items are correct and stored in proper areas. 17. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.18. Assists with catering events when needed. 19. Applies management principles to establishing and maintaining high standards of control for quality food production, presentation and service. 20. Implements reimbursable meals following state and federal guidelines. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS 1. Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with persons at all levels in order to develop and maintain productive relationships both inside and outside the corporation.2. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (includes equipment, hours, physical demands) Work Environment: This position typically works in facilities with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments. Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of all food service equipment. A basic knowledge of operations concerning computers, printers, telephone systems, fax machines and copiers is required. Hours: This position is typically expected to work an average of 8 hours per day. Summer hours will be adjusted as per the Child Nutrition Manager to assure adequate coverage throughout the summer period. Evening, weekend and holiday activities will be scheduled as necessary.
