Serves as the principal assistant to the Director and assumes full responsibility and authority in their absence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Participates in the development of patient relations programs and activities.2. Monitors and ensures all programs are consistent with their content and proposal while adhering to System policy and objectives.3. Participates in the development of communications programs to ensure the effective interpretation of the patient relations programs.4. Oversees language services, including medical interpreters and sign languages, while ensuring compliance with the American Disabilities Act for our patients.5. Ensures patient education materials are accurately translated into appropriate languages relating to access care and information in order to assist patients in making informed decisions.6. Advises Central Office on communications relating to the efforts of patient relations and the healthcare setting.7. Participates in the development of policies, distributes procedures related to public information and health education.8. Assists in interpreting System policies to the Director of Patient Relations, health care setting committees, and other related groups.9. Collaborates with the director in engaging with community boards and their respective communities.10. Assists in the direction and coordination of patient relations training programs initiated by the System or health care settings.11. Participates in analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of patient relations programs in addressing patient needs within the System's initiatives.12. Supervises personnel of the department.13. Participates in conducting trainings (e.g. Patient Relation Orientation to graduating classes of Special Officers, etc.).14. Assists in ensuring the Bill of Rights and manuals are maintained in compliance with State legislation.15. Participates in committees, as assigned.16. Performs other related duties, as assigned.Minimum Qualifications* - Qualification for Central Office # - Qualification for Health Care Facilities 1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social science, social work, public health or other related field; and2. * Four (4) or # three (3) years of satisfactory progressively responsible experience in the field of patient relations, public health, or social services in a health, social science, educational medical care or related agency of which at least two (2) years in an administrative, managerial, or supervisory capacity; or3. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Health Advocacy, Public or Hospital Administration, Health Care Specialization, Business Administration or related disciplines; and * three (3) or # two (2) years of satisfactory progressively responsible experience in the field of patient relations, public health, or social services in a health, social science, educational medical care or related agency, including at least one (1) year in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity; and4. Administrative and management skills, and good communicative, written and oral skills; or5.
