Other hours as necessary to perform professional responsibilities.General Summary: The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communication with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns. In developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Teacher observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff.Qualifications:- Infant/Toddler Teacher -- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field of study with a minimum of 18 Credits in Early Childhood Education- Preschool Teacher -- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 credits in Early Childhood Education. (Specific initiatives may have higher education requirements)- Minimum two-year experience working with children, preferably in the specific age group assigned to this position.- Current criminal record check, FBI criminal record check and child abuse clearances- Current health assessment and TB test- Mandated Reporter training- Current Pediatric First Aid/CPRResponsibilities:NOTE: The following lists of responsibilities are ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and are not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by a person employed in this role.- Positively support and represent Kinder Academy and its mission, as well as the center's participants to; families, coworkers, granters, state agencies, foundations, collaborative partners, and the community at large.- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws, codes and regulations, including daycare licensing requirements. Follow all program policies and procedures, including those outlined in the employee handbook. Prepare reports and maintain records necessary to meet all requirements of Kinder Academy, research, regulatory agencies, and funding sources.- Abide by the Kinder Academy Pledge Statements. Be a role model to others, demonstrating respectful interactions. Participate effectively as a member of a team, cooperating with others to ensure the success of the center and its programs. Support other team members in their role.- Practice confidentiality in all matters related to the staff and families, as well as proprietary information regarding the operation of the center.- Attend center-wide meetings and events. Occasionally attend planning sessions, advisory meetings, workshops, conferences and other meetings as decided with the administrative team.- Accept constructive feedback to improve performance. Participate in setting and meeting goals. Continue professional development to meet or exceed annual daycare licensing and other initiative requirements.- Communicates effectively with coworkers and others in relation to the smooth operation of the classroom, personal teacher needs, classroom needs, and student needs.- Assist in the working interview process and orientation of new employees as requested.Program Responsibilities:Develop a warm, positive, nurturing relationship with each child. Respond appropriately to children's emotional needs. Accept children's feelings and help them to express those feelings. Help children handle daily routines, transitions and unexpected changes. Interact with children to support their development and lea ning. Encourage and accept children's creative expressions. Engage in genuine conversations with children. Actively listen to children and encourage them to ask questions. Support and encourage children's participation in a variety of activities. Model positive behavior.Use a variety of teaching methods to support children's learning. Base programming and decision making on knowledge of best practices as demonstrated in current research, data, trends, and approaches, and through observation of children. Work closely with the administrative team to ensure developmentally appropriate programming.Provide materials, activities and experiences that promote development and provide a balance of quiet/active, child-initiated/teacher facilitated, indoor/outdoor, and small/large group activities utilizing The Investigators Club or Little Investigators Curriculum. Provide opportunities for cooperative play and interactions. Recognize the role of environment as teacher and arrange the physical learning environment to encourage play, exploration and learning.Use knowledge of each child's family, culture and individual interests to develop and enrich curriculum.Observe and record utilizing children's portfolios and OUNCE or Work Sampling systems children's experiences as a basis for curriculum development, parent communication and assessment. Work with the administrative team to develop and evaluate a plan for on-going documentation and assessment of children's developmental plete all associated student and staff paperwork and assessment on time and in a complete fashion. This includes, but is not limited to, the following, student assessments;- The Ounce Scale, Work Sampling, Ages & Stages and Student Learning Outcomes (SLO). Each assessment is to be completed multiple times per year, according to the posted timeline for the year.Establish an environment that fosters trust, respect, cooperation and appropriate behavior. Help children deal with stress and change. Encourage children to develop self-control. Help children use effective problem solving and appropriate conflict resolution strategies. Modify situations to prevent problems. Implement guidance strategies reflective of the organization's Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) philosophy.Take steps to ensure children's health and safety. Practice Universal Precautions and infection control, including appropriate hand washing, sanitation, disinfecting, and diapering procedures. Practice safe food handling procedures. Help children to adopt good health and safety practices. Incorporate health, safety and nutrition into the curriculum. Keep all children under direct supervision at all times and maintain ratios. Conduct regularly scheduled health & safety checks and implement plans for improvement.Assist the program in meeting or exceeding expectations to achieve and maintain STARs level 3 or 4 standards.Oversee the supervision of assistant teachers, classroom volunteers and support staffing to ensure Kinder Academy policies and procedures are maintained.Additional Responsibilities:Keep administrative team informed of all issues.This does not have a light duty component or capability, as such, the employee must be capable, at all times, of the following.Lifting up to 40lbs, including repetitive lifting o
