The Assistant/Associate Professor is a full-time faculty member with all the duties and responsibilities of ranked faculty at the Graduate School of Education, with expertise in Early Childhood Education & Special Education. This position will also work closely with the program Chair and the Office of Clinical Practice to promote alignment of course content with the candidate's clinical experience.Teach graduate courses in the programs offered for initial teacher certification in both general education and teaching students with disabilities (grades B-2) Maintain knowledge of standards and curriculum guidelines by NYSED, NYCPS, AAQEP, DEC and other agencies, with special emphasis on early literacy, math, and teaching students with disabilities in early childhood settingsServe as an instructional leader, facilitating, and participating with collaborative faculty teams to supervise and mentor teacher candidatesParticipate in the clinical supervision of candidates, in coordination with the Office of Clinical PracticeSupport the Chair with virtual and in-person orientation activities for new cohorts, and support the design and implementation of top-quality PD events for partnersContribute new initiatives, such as induction programs, to better prepare novice teachers as they complete their programs at GSE and obtain initial certificationProvide academic advisement to program candidatesMaintain a current record of scholarly activities and publications, as well as professional serviceServe on Graduate School of Education committeesSupport and contribute to program-level continuous improvement for national/professional accreditationUphold the missions and values of Touro University and the GSE Perform other duties as assignedEducation/ExperienceEarned doctorate in Education, Special Education, or related fieldSuccessful classroom teaching experience of three or more years, working with diverse studentsSuccessful experience in assessment and data use in early childhood and special education classrooms with evidence of positive learning and development for diverse groups of studentsExperience in course and program designCommitment to culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogyDemonstrated ability for scholarly productivityExperience with assessment and effective teaching methodologies for students with special needs utilizing a variety of instructional delivery methods, instructional and assistive technologies, and educational resources for educational equity and accessExperience in teaching and designing online courses is preferredKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of school and Community-Based Organizations and experience building partnerships in diverse communitiesExperience with Quality Stars and/or the Pyramid Model and NY State Initiatives such as Universal Pre-K Experience and knowledge of the IFSP process, early intervention, and turning five IEP strategies.Experience using Canvas and other technology in educational settings Active involvement in professional organizationsExpertise in urban education Experience with students with multiple special needsExcellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal/intercultural skills across a wide range of mediums (including social media)Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & OutlookProficiency in online learning platforms including Canvas, Adobe Connect, Zoom, and other digital media and Teaching Strategies PlatinumCertifications/LicensuresPlease include a cover letter with resume.TravelSome travel to Touro University GSE sites New York City including occasional eveningsUSD $72,000.00/Yr.USD $68,000.00/Yr.
