PCAs are hired to assist consumers withhome and personal care tasks. PCAs help consumers live in their homes byproviding support with: - Walking - Transferring in and out of chairsand beds - Toileting - Bathing and dressing - Meal preparation -Housekeeping - Shopping Who is the PCA?s manager? The consumer is thePCA?s manager. They make the PCA?s schedule and help train the PCA. Whocan work as a PCA? You can work as a PCA if: - You are allowed to workin the United States - You can understand and follow the consumer?sdirections You will need to complete a paid, 4-hour PCA New HireOrientation training after you are hired. No other requirements areneeded. Can I work as a PCA for friends or family? Yes, you can work asa PCA for friends and some family members enrolled in the MassHealth PCAprogram. A person cannot be hired if they are the consumer?s spouse,parent/foster parent (if the consumer is a minor), or legallyresponsible relative.
