About the position:?Our AS400 RPG Programmer will be responsible for coding, testing, and implementing applications for our business needs in support of the strategic transformation from on-premises systems to cloud-based platforms with little to no disruption. This position can be based out of our Abingdon, VA or Knoxville, TN Corporate Office.Essential Job Functions: Core functions include: system analysis and development, applications programming, database analysis • Studies existing manual and computerized systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop revisions or new systems to improve production and/or workflowDevelop specifications and requirements for the optimal integration and implementation of systems and equipmentProvide estimates to complete assigned project tasks.Evaluate specifications and requirements against available systemsDesign fully integrated systems, which may include applications, databases, networks, and related systemsEnsure system integrity and efficiencyReview specifications with the user to ensure that requirements are metDevelop test plans and work with end users to test and debug programsUser productivity tools to develop and modify applications softwareInstall new, modified or third-party software releases and/or updatesEvaluate and supplement vendor supplied documentation for third party softwareWrite documentation to provide user support for new or modified programs and production/operational proceduresEvaluates and recommends procedures or improvements to better achieve organizational goals and objectivesSystems maintenance, support and troubleshootingResponsible for attending on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job dutiesEnsure all aspects of company policy and procedures in regard to good business and department practices are followedRequires On-Call supportPosition requires working at corporate officeOther duties as assigned Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is required.Requires a demonstrated ability to work with teams to design, implement, and support application and database systemsAssociate should have a combination of the following skills: DATABASE, DDS, SUBFILES, RPG/RPGLE, SQL, CLP, CLLE, OS/400 commands and project management experience along with effective interpersonal and written communication skillsKnowledge of Accounting, EDI, and / or Warehouse Systems.Ability to transform user requirements and technical concepts to a solid production/service basisMust possess ability to handle stressful situations in completion of assignments and performance of duties.Must work in team environment supporting a variety of systemsAdheres to policies, procedures and standards as set forth by Corporate and/or the Information Services Department Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basisBenefits of working for Food City:401(k) with company match, Employee Stock Ownership Plan, Weekly Pay Checks with Direct Deposit, Company paid Life and Disability Insurance, Medical Plan with wellness benefits, Dental Plan, Paid Holidays, Paid Vacations, Associate Offers, and so much moreAbout Food City:Food City is a privately held, family-owned company with a driving mission to 'run the best store in town.'
