As a Bus Operator, you will be the heartbeat of the community, ensuring passengers reach their destinations safely and on time.u00a0 If you enjoy being behind the wheel, providing excellent service, and working in a dynamic environment, this is the job for youWe are seeking candidatesu00a0for the position ofu00a0Bus/Light Rail Operator in our city and suburban divisions that have a desire to serve the public and invest in your future and grow within the company.u00a0 u00a0 u00a0 u00a0A High School diploma or GED is not required for this career opportunityu00a0OVERALL DESCRIPTIONAs a bus operator you will drive vehicles along specified routes or to specified destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations, while ensuring that passengers have a safe ride and providing excellent customer service.u00a0u00a0Key Responsibilities:- Drives passenger vehicle while following all safety procedures for vehicle operation.- Abide by all SEPTA policies and procedures.- Provide courteous and professional customer service to passengers.- Follow traffic laws, SEPTA policies, and safety regulations.- Assist passengers getting on and off the bus, including but not limited to the elderly and those with disabilities.- Monitor fare collection and issue transfers when necessary.- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and report any incidents, delays, accidents or passenger emergencies.- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and maintenance compliance.- Prepare accident reports as needed.u00a0Qualifications:- Must have a valid Driver's License with the ability to obtain a CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements.- A minimum of 3 years licensed driving experience.- Clean driving record in the last 3 years.- u00a0Ability to successfully complete employment interview, employment history verification, criminal background check and medical examination including drug screening.- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, split days off, especially during first two years of employment.u00a0Required to be available for all shifts.- Commitment to safety and excellent customer service.- Candidates without a high school diploma or GED must complete and pass a standardized assessment to qualify for this position.u00a0Compensation/Hours:- Competitive salary (starting pay determined by division location). - Current pay ranges from $25.29 - $26.43 (depending on what division you are assigned) - Maximum hourly pay is $37.76 per hour AFTER 4 years of service- Paid training and career advancement opportunities.- Operators will have a guaranteed 40 hours a weeku00a0Only guaranteed if physically workingCDL/CDL Permit Requirements- If offered the position after interview candidates will be required to present either a Class B or Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement with no restri tions for driving vehicles with air brakes.- No CDL or Permitu00a0- You will be required to obtain a CDL permit (preferably Class B) before your tentative start date.u00a0SEPTA's Competitive Benefits PackageWhy Join Our Team?
