In this role, you will work with a team of dynamic and diverse individuals and ensure that structures and equipment are installed correctly, properly maintained and repaired as needed across UBu2019s North and South campuses. All the Student Life trades, and custodial staff work within UBu2019s residential halls and a typical year, Campus Living houses up to 7,500 students at UB. Our skilled trades and custodial staff care for the buildings our students live in. Our priority is the health and safety of our students. Without dedicated cleaners and maintenance staff, the university would not be able to have a residential program.Key accountabilities and responsibilities:As a Maintenance Assistant, your contributions will ensure that structures and equipment are installed correctly, properly maintained, and repaired as needed.Responsibilities include:u2022 Performs routine replacement and repair of plumbing equipment.u2022 Repairing and installing equipment such as dishwashers, laundry equipment, repair leaks in water lined.u2022 Maintain and hang signage.u2022 Semiskilled carpentry activities including repairing doors, windows, stairs, railing, furniture, locks, and door hardware.u2022 Masonry and concrete repairs or installationsu2022 Paint and make repairs to vacant living spaces.u2022 Install light fixtures, outlets, and switches.u2022 Repair electrical equipment.At Campus Living, we strive to achieve personal growth and learning every day, for everyone. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Non-competitive: Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work.
