Employment Type: Part time Shift: Description: Position Title: Adjunct Instructor Department: College of Nursing Status: Per Diem Reports To: Academic Dean of College of Nursing Employment Type: Adjunct Location: Online (Asynchronous Delivery) Start Date: Fall 2026 then semester by semester Credit hours: 3 credits Position Summary St. Josephu2019s College of Nursing invites applications for Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate Human Growth and Development in a fully asynchronous online format. This course serves nursing and allied health students and supports their understanding of lifespan development and its application to patient-centered care across diverse populations. Position Purpose St. Josephu2019s College of Nursing (SJCON) offers a single-purpose, hospital-based Associate in Applied Science degree with a major in Nursing. Program options include: A traditional weekday format following a two-year academic calendar The Dual Degree Partnership in Nursing (DDPN), a collaborative 1+2+1 program with Le Moyne College enabling students to earn both an AAS and BS in Nursing within four years The Evening/Weekend option completed over 18 months The Accelerated Dual Degree Partnership in Nursing (ADDPN) for students who already hold a BA or BS degree The College is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Human Growth and Development is a foundational general education course and serves as a prerequisite for nursing coursework. The course emphasizes major theories and principles of development across the lifespan, including biological, cognitive, and psychosocial perspectives. Instruction intentionally connects developmental theory and research to clinical nursing practice, patient communication, and care planning across the lifespan. The course is delivered asynchronously and designed in alignment with Quality Matters (QM) standards and best practices in online adult learning. Job Expectations + Facilitate asynchronous online instruction using Canvas. + Deliver engaging, well-structured weekly modules aligned with course objectives and QM-informed standards. + Provide timely, meaningful feedback on discussions, assignments, and assessments. + Apply adult learning principles and inclusive teaching practices to support nursing and allied health students. + Integrate lifespan developmental concepts with real-world healthcare contexts and nursing practice. + Collaborate with the Collegeu2019s Quality Matters Coordinator to ensure ongoing alignment with institutional quality standards. + Contribute to course evaluation and continuous improvement efforts. + Maintain prescribed adjunct faculty workload, including instructional responsibilities, student communication, and participation in course-level planning. + Recognize and respond to student learning needs, providing appropriate academic support. + Adjunct is responsible for updating weekly learning activities within an existing framework and creating a master course shell Required Technology + Computer hardware expectations + Stable internet requirements + Webcam use is required + Any required software Minimum Qualifications + Masteru2019s degree in Psychology, Developmental Psychology, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credits in Psychology (official transcripts required upon hire). + Demonstrated ability to teach at the college level. + Experience using a learning management system (Canvas preferred). + Strong written communication skills appropriate for asynchronous instruction. Preferred Qualifications + Prior experience teaching fully asynchronous online courses. + Training in Quality Matters (QM) or another recognized online course quality framework. + Experience developing or revising online courses using evidence-based instructional design principles. + Experience teaching nursing or allied health student populations. + Familiarity with inclusive pedagogy and culturally responsive teaching practices.
