Order#: NY1593792 Building Trades Instructor FUNCTION & SCOPE: The Fast-Track Building Trades Program is an intensive, three-month workforce training program that prepares participants for entry-level careers in construction, electrical work, and carpentry. This accelerated pathway supports individuals who are entering the workforce for the first time as well as those looking to shift into the skilled tradesfields that continue to face strong demand at both the state and national levels.Participants gain practical, hands-on experience alongside structured classroom instruction. The program also leads to industry-recognized certifications in three high-demand trades, positioning graduates for immediate employment or entry into registered apprenticeship programs.The REOC Fast Track Building Trades Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality, didactic and hands-on training in Construction, Electrical, and Carpentry to adult learners preparing for entry-level employment in the skilled trades. The instructor provides classroom instruction, practical skills training, safety education, and job-readiness support aligned with industry standards. This role plays a critical part in supporting participants successful completion of the program and transition into employment, apprenticeships, or advanced training pathways. There will be 3-4 cohorts per year with up to 15 students/cohort. The Building Trades Instructor reports to the Director of Academic Affairs. DUTIES:Using an established curriculum, create lesson plans and conduct classes in theory and practice of construction, electrical work and carpentry.Monitor students while they practice to ensure proper technique and safety procedures.Maintain accurate records of attendance, student progress, and safety compliance. Maintain relationships with the business community to ensure job training goals, objectives, and curriculum are aligned with current business standards and practices.Assign lessons to students and corrects homework, administers test to evaluate achievement of students in technical knowledge and practical skills, records results and issues reports to students. Contribute to program evaluation, curriculum updates, and continuous improvement initiatives.Maintain NCCER itiates purchase requisitions for supplies, materials, and equipment following Research Foundation procurement policies and procedures, ensure maintenance program for equipment is in placeParticipate in REOC staff and department meetings, professional development, and required trainings. Hold office hours as directed by Director of Academic AffairsPerform other duties as needed by the Director of Academic Affairs and/or directed by the grant project director.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or appropriate industry experience supported by relevant certifications and credentials.3-5 years of professional experience in construction, carpentry, electrical, or related building tradesDemonstrated mastery of trade skills, tools, and safety protocolsAbility to teach entry level skills such as framing, basic wiring, materials handling, pluming, measurements, power tools, and job-site safetyStrong communication, organizational, and instructional skillsCommitment to supporting the mission and vision of the Rochester Educational Opportunity CenterPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Relevant certifications such as OSHA -10/30, NCCER, or trade specific licensesExperience teaching, training, mentoring, or supervising workers/apprentices
