35973BR Service Line: Environmental Office Name: Tampa Job Description: General Responsibilities: As a PI/Archaeologist, you will lead and manage archaeological projects from project kickoff through completion, ensuring compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, State Statutes (Ch. 267 in Florida, for example), and other relevant regulations. You will oversee field surveys, site evaluations, and excavation efforts, while supervising and mentoring field crews and junior staff. Responsibilities include preparing technical reports, coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies, and contributing to client outreach. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in CRM, strong knowledge of federal and state preservation laws, and a proven ability to manage multiple projects in a team-oriented, safety-first environment. Essential Roles and Responsibilities: Technical and Field Expertise + Proficiency in archaeological field methods (survey, testing, excavation, monitoring) + Strong understanding of artifact identification, site recording, and stratigraphy Leadership and Communication + Strong leadership and mentoring skills for supervising field crews and junior staff + Excellent written and verbal communication for client and agency interactions + Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams Project Management + Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and timelines simultaneously + Experience writing and reviewing technical reports and research designs + Responsibilities: + Lead and manage archaeological field projects, including surveys, excavations, and monitoring. + Develop and implement research designs, work plans, and methodologies for archaeological investigations. + Conduct artifact analysis, site documentation, and data collection. + Prepare detailed technical reports, including site descriptions, artifact inventories, and interpretations of findings. + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines related to cultural resources. + Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure project objectives are met. + Supervise and mentor field and laboratory staff, providing guidance and training as needed. + Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively. Requirements: + Graduate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field (MA, MS, PhD) and a minimum of 5 yearsu2019 related experience. + Intimately familiar with the cultural history of the region and surrounding areas. + Secretary of Interior (SOI) qualified. + Valid driveru2019s license with acceptable violation history. + Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) Certification + Proficiency in GIS, GPS, and other archaeological field technologies. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. + Physical ability to conduct fieldwork in various environmental conditions, as needed. + Experience with Florida and Southeastern archaeology.
