Job Description

We are seeking a Polysomnographic Technologist, sometimes referred to as our Sleep Lab Tech, Sleep Technologist or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) in our Sleep Laboratory department. The Polysomnographic Technologist (or Sleep Technologist) is a specialized healthcare professional who conducts and analyzes sleep studies to diagnose and monitor patients with sleep disorders. Polysomnographic Techs identify conditions such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, periodic limb movement disorder, insomnia, and REM behavior disorder. This position is on a per diem basis, PD/PRN, meaning as needed.Shift’s Available: NightsEmployment Type: Full timeHours: 12-hour shiftLocation: Riverview Regional Medical Center - Gadsden, ALHere are some of the benefits of working at Prime Healthcare:Health, dental, and vision insurance optionsPaid vacation, sicktimeand holidaysBereavementleave, FMLA and other leave optionsEmployer 401K optionsTuition reimbursement optionsLife, disability, and other insurance optionsMany other amazing benefitsEssential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):Prepare the sleep lab or hospital room, review patient history and orders, and educate patients on the sleep study processApply sensors to monitor brain, heart, muscle, eye, and respiratory activity while ensuring patient safety and data qualityObserve and respond to sleep-related events such as apneas, oxygen desaturations, or abnormal cardiac activity during the studyRecord and score sleep stages and respiratory events, using software tools to prepare data for physician interpretationInitiate and adjust CPAP, BiPAP, or ASV therapy as needed and troubleshoot equipment or patient concerns during the studyCollaborate with the care team and educate patients on sleep disorders, home testing, and positive airway pressure therapy complianceEducation and Work ExperienceBefore we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: High school diploma or equivalentBLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain currentCompletion of American Academy of Sleep Medicine A-STEP program with eligibility to set for board certification or registry; graduate of an accredited polysomnography program or enrolled in the last semester of an accredited polysomnograpy program to qualify as a student technicianIf a recent graduate of an accredited polysomnography program, must obtain certification or registry within 6 months of hire date; or for completion of the AASM A-STEP program must obtain certification or registry within 6 months of program completionFor student Polysomnography Technicians, must obtain certification or registry within 6 months of graduation date from accredited program.Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:Eligible for registry through the BRPTMinimum of 1 year technical experience working in a sleep lab/centerExperience scoring sleep studiesFull benefits at Prime Healthcare: https:www.eeoc.gov/sites/default/files/2022-10/EEOC_KnowYourRights_screen_reader_10_20.pdf
