Location: Syracuse, NY Category: Adjunct Faculty Posted On: Fri Mar 20 2026 Job Description: Job Summary: The part-time hourly Lab Assistant will provide support to faculty and students in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program's laboratory sessions. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES + Set up, supervise, and break down lab and testing stations; maintain a safe, organized learning environment throughout lab sessions. + Support laboratory instruction through demonstration, coaching, and supervision of student skill practice in simulated patient-care scenarios. + Conduct and score student competency checkoffs and practical skill assessments using established course rubrics/checklists and required safety criteria. + Communicate effectively with the course coordinator to learn and understand all curriculum policies and rules for testing in the lab. Schedule: Friday mornings in the fall semester, Monday or Wednesday, and Friday mornings in the Spring semester. Job Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS + Current New York State Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing with 3+ years of experience within the last 5 years. + Must be able to assist students with physical therapy interventions and have broad experience with current and evolving health technology as well as basic troubleshooting skills. + Strong interpersonal communication skills; professionalism, reliability, and ability to collaborate with faculty and students. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Prior teaching or instructional support experience in PTA education (clinical instruction and/or lab instruction, orthopedic outpatient experience). + Demonstrated connections with local healthcare organizations. + Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered. Additional Information: + Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $48.70/ per hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment. + Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
