Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Responsibilities This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until May 19, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be March 24, 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available. Staff psychiatrists provide or assist residents and/or the nurse practitioner in the process of evaluation and treatment of the psychiatric patient, and actively participate in corrective actions against untoward responses to psychiatric interventions. Staff psychiatrists evaluate the patient to assess changes in the physical and mental status. A progress note is written in the patient's chart. Notes also include the concurrence with notes written by the resident, and attending notes as appropriate. Staff psychiatrists perform inpatient psychiatry consultations, and outpatient psychiatry evaluations and treatment. . During on-call hours, staff psychiatrists shall be available for all emergency psychiatric interventions. Staff psychiatrists are appropriately credentialed and privileged. They participate in various hospital committees, departmental and hospital in-service programs, and education programs of the department and the hospital. They are also involved in continuous quality improvement through peer review process. Staff psychiatrists shall be responsible for inpatient and outpatient care, and graduate and undergraduate medical education, and scientific research as appropriate.
