This role requires strong critical care nursing experience and the ability to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment. The ideal candidate will have recent ICU experience, with Emergency Department experience preferred, and experience working in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center.This is a 13-week travel/contract position with night shifts (3x12-hour shifts per week). Nurses will be required to work every other weekend and some holidays. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Adult ED/ICU holding unit Perform detailed patient assessments and implement appropriate nursing interventions Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to clinical changes Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies as ordered by physicians Operate and monitor critical care equipment and patient monitoring systems Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams Document patient care accurately using the EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and patient safety guidelines Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff Minimum Requirements Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License Required at time of submission BLS Certification Required PALS Certification Required for ED coverage Minimum 2 years of recent ICU/CCU experience Required Experience in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers Preferred Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records Preferred Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills Additional Requirements Must have an active New York RN license at the time of submission Must not have had a professional license suspended or under investigation Must not have been named as a defendant in a professional liability claim Must have legal authorization to work in the United States Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance, drug screening, and background check Unit DetailsSetting: Acute Care Hospital Critical CareUnit: Adult ED / ICU Holding UnitPatient Population: Critically ill adult patients requiring intensive monitoring and care Patients awaiting ICU admission or transition of careClinical Environment: High-acuity critical care setting Trauma center experience strongly valued Fast-paced environment requiring strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
