Position Summary:Provides prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals as needed for adequate patient care according to professional standards and practices.Compounds, labels and packages medications and pharmaceuticals. Advises patients and family on use of various medications including dosage, side effects and composition. Ensures secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances on a regular basis. Checks stock on a regular basis to identify and reorder outdated stock and ensure that stock is maintained in accordance with manufacturer requirements. Assists in preparing required reports by compiling information. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs as well as safety, environmental and infection control standards in the performance of work duties. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Attend meetings as required and participates on committees as directed. Attends and serves on professional/civic service organizations as hospital representative. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Monitor anticoagulation service patients per protocol. Monitor medication doses, interactions, and other critical pharmacokinetic effects and report information to physicians and other patient care staff as appropriate. Perform interventions per protocol.Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Education: None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.Minimum Experience: Completion of internship.Licensure Requirement: Current TN pharmacist license.
