GENERAL SUMMARYShipping/Receiving Coordinator is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments. The duties include organizing inventory for easy retrieval as new orders come in, reviewing incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations and documenting damages to inbound shipments and inventory. This position also performs related duties as assigned in regards to the production process.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)Coordinate logistics and communicating with transportation providers to ensure prompt and proper movement of inbound and outbound shipments.Review supplier purchase orders and shipping documents to ensure accuracy.Track and fix shipping errors, address shop floor issues related to shipping or inventory handling.Prepare Bill of Lading (BOL) and necessary associated paperwork.Print and distribute job routers and drawings to the shop floor as material becomes available.Maintain the shipping/receiving area through organizing, cleaning and cataloging items on a regular basis; physically place material by lifting items as necessary, operating forklifts and overhead cranes as needed.Catalogue incoming and outgoing vendor shipments in business system or shared company directory as directed.Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems.Obtain RFQ's for necessary shipping materials, coordinate with Purchasing department to order shipping supplies, build crates or pallets as needed.Load finished goods into/on required shipping containers, pallets or boxes using fasteners or metal strapping and other related tools or equipment.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent.Two to three years of experience in shippingKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITLIESStrong interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent organization and administrative skillsStrong computer skills with experience using ERP softwareAbility to operate shop machinery such as forklifts, overhead cranes and pallet jacksRead and interpret technical engineering assembly and fabrication drawingsFollow detailed oral and written instructionsCommunicate to shop personnel regarding materials used in the fabrication of the product.PHYSICAL DEMANDSMay be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time.Occasional handling of material and components.May have contact with caustic substances in some areas of plant.Must be able to tolerate long hours in shop environment and support after hours business needs as they arise.Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently for distances up to 10 feet.WORKING CONDITIONSNormal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots).
