POSITION TITLE: Line Cook REPORTS TO: Director of Dietary Services PAY RANGE: $21.00 - $24.62 Sacramento Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is looking for a Line Cook who brings energy, skill, and a great attitude to work every single day. If you take pride in your craft, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are committed to consistency and cleanliness, we'd love to have you on our team KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: u2022 Assemble and prepare food and snacks as directed u2022 Prepares and serves meals for patients, employees and guests u2022 Organize and deliver prepared food to patient areas u2022 Properly process, store, and prepare food on a tight timeline u2022 Maintain high level of kitchen sanitation related to food preparation, dish room activities and employeeu2019s personal hygiene u2022 Consistent documentation of food labeling, dating and kitchen procedures u2022 Serve behavioral health patients and staff with a friendly and helpful demeanor at all times u2022 Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development u2022 Performs related duties, as requested u2022 Upholds the Organizationu2019s ethics and customer service standards u2022 Upholds policies and procedures with staff Requirements POSITION REQUIREMENTS: u2022 Maintain an excellent attendance record u2022 Comfortable working in a psychiatric hospital environment u2022 Food Safety Handler Card required within the first week of employment u2022 Able to work day, weekend or evening shifts upon 48-hour notice u2022 Available for on-call shifts u2022 Willing to be flexible in job assignments to meet patient care needs u2022 Work well in a team environment Knowledge and Experience: u2022 High School degree or equivalent required u2022 Prefer food service experience in a treatment center, health care or treatment center setting u2022 Must be able to concentrate on work amidst distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic u2022 Experience in consistently meeting deadlines; and finish all food preparation at specified serving time; must be flexible in work hours in order to meet patient and organization operating needs u2022 Must be able to use kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers and dishwashers u2022 Knowledge of the hygiene factors involved in food preparation u2022 Must be able to work independently, in a result restricted physical environment for extended periods of time Skills and Abilities: u2022 Maintains confidentiality of patients at all times. This includes information pertaining to care and dietary requirements as well as confidential internal company information and activities u2022 Sensitivity to and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds u2022 Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer services interactions u2022 Organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks u2022 Able to read, write and communicate in English u2022 Ability to work independently and as part of a team u2022 Good judgment Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following: u2022 Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population u2022 Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy u2022 Vision: see details of objects at close range u2022 Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously u2022 Reach forward, up, down, and to the side u2022 Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour and come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day. u2022 Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and/or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips. Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly. Hearing to perceive the nature of sounds with no less than 40db loss @ HZ, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound. Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers.
