Position Summary The Senior Reserving Actuary is responsible for leading and executing actuarial reserving analyses for multiple Property & Casualty lines of business. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the adequacy of loss and LAE reserves, supporting financial reporting, and partnering with Finance, Claims, Underwriting, and ERM. The position requires strong technical reserving expertise, sound actuarial judgment, and the ability to communicate results to senior leadership. Key Responsibilities Reserving & Analysis Perform quarterly and annual loss and LAE reserve analyses for assigned P&C lines of business using actuarial best practices Select and recommend carried reserves, including rationale for management and audit review Analyze loss development patterns, trend, tail factors, and large loss activity Identify emerging issues and explain reserve movements, variability, and key drivers Conduct deep-dive analyses on segments, coverages, and accident years as needed Financial Reporting & Governance Support statutory, GAAP, and management reporting processes Prepare and review actuarial exhibits, documentation, and reserve memos Partner with Finance on close processes, variance analysis, and earnings commentary Support internal controls, SOX documentation, and governance standards Collaboration & Business Support Work closely with Claims to understand operational drivers of loss emergence Partner with Underwriting and Pricing to provide feedback on loss experience and profitability Support reinsurance reserving, commutations, and ceded analyses as needed Support transformation efforts to automate quarterly roll forwards Leadership & Development Mentor junior actuarial staff and review actuarial work products Contribute to the enhancement of reserving methodologies, tools, and automation Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned lines or reserving topics Qualifications Required Associate (ACAS) or equivalent level of experience 10-15+ years of actuarial experience, with substantial P&C reserving experience Strong knowledge of U.S. P&C reserving techniques and regulatory environment Experience with primary insurance (personal and/or commercial lines) Advanced proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of actuarial software (e.g., ResQ, Arius, SAS, R, or similar) Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to management Preferred Experience supporting statutory and GAAP reporting Exposure to reinsurance structures and ceded reserving Prior experience interacting with auditors and regulators Programming or automation experience (R, Python, SQL, VBA) Leadership or informal people-management experience The base salary range for this position is $152,000 - $230,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
