Jacobs has an opportunity for a Fire Protection Engineer supporting our long-term project at a client site in Washington, DC. or Quantico, VA.Position DescriptionThe Fire Protection Engineer will have essential multi-discipline team representation and be self-motivated, well organized, and customer focused. This position will be working with our Federal group as an owneru2019s representative. The Senior Fire Protection engineer will act as a consultant in the establishment of Fire Protection and Life Safety design standards and criteria for construction projects. Provide expert Fire Protection engineering support based on these requirements:u2022 Review proposal documents for accuracy and ability to meet client standards. Provide comments and/or recommendations as necessary.u2022 Review Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, Life Safety, and Fire Protection floor plans utilizing various NFPA and IBC Codes and Standards.u2022 Possess and utilize knowledge and understanding of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101), especially as it pertains to Means of Egress Systems and Components. Ensure all designs meet these standards.u2022 Review vendor shop drawings and equipment submittals for sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems for compliance with NFPA 13 and NFPA 72, respectively.u2022 Review sprinkler system hydraulic calculations, hydrant flow test data, and fire pump performance curves.u2022 Possess the knowledge and ability to suggest and equivalent level of protection when strict code compliance cannot be achieved.u2022 Inspect facilities and clearly identify deficiencies with respect to Means of Egress, Sprinkler Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, Emergency Lighting, Electrical Arrangements, Fire Rated Partitions, Storage Arrangements, etc.u2022 Ability to test Fire and Life Safety Systems including, but not limited to, sprinklers, fire alarm, emergency lighting, and elevator recall during Substantial Completion Inspections.u2022 Provide on-site field survey measurements and verification.u2022 Perform design reviews and submit comments in required format.u2022 Coordinate with client colleagues, client Project Managers, customers and other contractors, and other project team members on projects as necessary.u2022 Other similar or related services not of a decision-making nature.u2022 Exhibit professionalism, good customer service and communication skills and serve as a cooperative team player.u2022 Collaborate and assist in resolving critical and possibly controversial issues with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers and federal agency clients.#LI-IR1 u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree from an accredited college or university in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineeringu2022 US Citizenshipu2022 Proficient in current version of AutoCAD software.u2022 5 years of Fire Protection engineering experience.u2022 Active Top Secret clearance.u2022 Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferrable.Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
