Description The Accounting Manager Payroll specialist administers the activities relating to the company payroll and benefits including developing, implementing, and monitoring all processes. This individual will perform internal audits and control procedures to ensure that all wages and taxes are accurate. Furthermore, this employee will be the companyu2019s subject matter expert with all bi-weekly payroll and benefits. Essential Job Functions: u2022 Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees; including reviewing timecards, administering garnishments, and entering adjustments, bonuses, retro pay, and PTO payouts. u2022 Process off cycle checks as required. u2022 Record journal entries for payroll. u2022 Implement and maintain payroll best practices to improve efficiency and consult with Human Resources to improve payroll processes. u2022 Evaluate and implement payroll system upgrades and changes. u2022 Run and submit reports to workersu2019 compensation insurance provider. u2022 Review quarterly and year-end tax reports and W-2u2019s for accuracy. u2022 Process Fringe Benefit and 1099 year-end payrolls. u2022 Produce reports as needed based on wages, hours, and staff evaluations. u2022 Assist all employees with benefit programs including changes, enrollments, and terminations. u2022 Assist with open enrollment period in conjunction with the plan representatives. This includes preparation and distribution of materials. u2022 Audit plans along with payroll for accuracy of enrollments. u2022 Assist in year-end audits of workersu2019 compensation insurance and 401k plan. u2022 Address benefit inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolutions. u2022 Process monthly billings from providers. Review billings for accuracy. u2022 Assist in year-end survey and financial audit. u2022 Reconcile payroll and benefit accounts with the general ledger. u2022 Provides backup support for Accounting Department as needed. u2022 Other duties as assigned. Competencies: u2022 Effective leadership of team environment u2022 At least 4+ years of experience administering payroll and benefits. Work experience should include knowledge of payroll practices, benefits administration, and compliance or other related experience. u2022 Superior judgment and decision-making skills u2022 Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity to manage sensitive and confidential situations. u2022 Strong understanding of payroll and benefit processes and procedures, including eligibility and enrollment rules. u2022 Effective communicator at all levels in the organization u2022 Possess strong organization skills and ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work on deadline Required Skills: u2022 High level of attention to detail and accuracy u2022 Employ critical thinking and problem solving u2022 Ethical reasoning and decision making u2022 Receptive and responsive to feedback u2022 Excellent verbal and written communication skills u2022 Time management, prioritization, and sense of urgency u2022 Maintain employee confidentiality Travel: Travel between locations is expected for this position.
