This position islocated at the Advanced Machining and Prototyping (AMP) lab in ParkCity, this position you will perform tasks related to Portable DimensionalMetrology, utilizing Laser Trackers, Laser Scanners, Laser Radar, andArms to collect measurements, analyze those measurements in a variety ofmetrology software packages and provide detailed reports of theanalysis. You will also take part in research to expand the capabilitiesof portable metrology equipment including the automation of portablemetrology and help develop and provide training for portable metrologyequipment.Apply now and join our fast-paced and fast-growing teamJob SummaryPerforms tasks related to metrology measurements and analysis, includingresearch and data collection, to support production. Produces accurateand repeatable measurement of parts and tools. Responsible for the careand upkeep of metrology equipment.Essential FunctionsPerforms tasks related to metrology measurements and analysis to supportteams and production. Establishes technical requirements for metrologymeasurements, planning implementation of new metrology techniques andmeasurement methods, processes, software, and equipment. Producesaccurate and repeatable measurements of production parts and tools.Prepares inspection plans and schedules inspection tasks. Maintains andtracks metrology equipment and/or automation. Writes and runs advancedprograms for metrology equipment. Provides reports for inspected parts;assembles First Article Inspection (FAI) reports. Assist in thedevelopment and provides training courses to internal and externalpartners. Provides guidance, direction, and assistance to juniormetrology engineers. Researches new technologiesJob DutiesOperate portable metrology equipment: Laser Trackers, Laser Scanners,Laser Radars, and Arm.Analyze measurements with portable metrology software: Spatial Analyzer,Polywoks, Metrolog, and PC-DMIS.Research new portable metrology equipment, techniques, measurementmethods, processes, and software.Participate in automated metrology projects.Prepares inspection plans and schedules inspection tasks.Produces accurate and repeatable measurements, using portable Metrologyequipment.Provides inspection reports for inspected parts and tooling.Assist with the development of portable metrology training courses.Provide portable metrology training courses for customers.Provides guidance, direction, and assistance to junior dimensionalmetrologist.Required Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent by date of hireFive (5) years of related work experience; or an equivalent combinationof related education and experience.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to learn additional functions of metrology, including portable,stationary, and automation.Demonstrated advanced understanding of metrology concepts and practices.Demonstrated knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing(GD&T).Demonstrated advanced knowledge of metrology software . Ability to work productively with a variety of customers to understandtheir needs and constraints.Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.Ability to pay close attention to detail, organize tasks, and to thinkcritically.Proficient in using hand gauges such as micrometers, calipers, and boregages.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Preferred QualificationsBS in Engineering or related field of studyFive (5) years Portable Metrology experience; or an equivalentcombination of related education and experience.High proficiency with three or more pieces of portable metrologyequipment.High proficiency with two or more Metrology software programs.Physical RequirementsAbility to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs. Ability tocommunicate with others and accurately exchange information. Ability tooperate a computer and other office equipment including but not limitedto phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to remain in astationary position.
