Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team. In this long-term contract role, you will play a key part in supporting local government operations by handling tax payments and providing excellent customer service. This position is ideal for candidates with accounting knowledge or prior experience in municipal settings. Responsibilities: u2022 Process and record tax payments, including cash and credit card transactions, with accuracy. u2022 Handle inquiries from customers regarding personal property and real estate taxes. u2022 Ensure timely and efficient data entry of payment information into the system. u2022 Communicate effectively with customers to provide assistance and resolve payment-related issues. u2022 Maintain organized records of invoices and transactions for reporting purposes. u2022 Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with municipal accounting standards. u2022 Assist in preparing documentation for audits and financial reviews. u2022 Stay updated on local tax regulations to provide accurate information to customers. u2022 Identify and escalate discrepancies or issues in payment processing. u2022 Support other administrative tasks as needed within the department Requirements u2022 Familiarity with handling cash and credit card payments. u2022 Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and addressing concerns. u2022 Basic knowledge of personal property and real estate tax procedures. u2022 Prior experience working in a municipal or government setting is preferred. u2022 Proficiency in using accounting software and systems. u2022 Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial transactions. u2022 Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
