We are recruiting for a candidate with outstanding clinical, supervision, and program development / evaluation skills for a position with a focus on evidence-based care and consultation within an acute adult inpatient setting (average length of stay 10-14 days). We are recruiting a psychologist with expertise in acute/inpatient care to serve as the programming lead for one of our General Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Units. Our overall adult inpatient service includes 63 beds and a very collaborative and interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, APPu2019s, RN's, psychiatric pharmacologists, mental health therapists, recreation therapists, music therapists, chemical dependency counselors, and interdisciplinary trainees. Our inpatient psychologist provides numerous services within our inpatient service. First, the inpatient psychologist oversees unit programming, provides direct clinical care (brief therapy, group therapy, brief interventions with families/caregivers, psychological testing), supervises pre-doctoral interns and externs, and participates in scholarly activities. Given the diversity of the patients served within the program and amongst the interdisciplinary team members and trainees, strong skills around cultural adaptation and cultural sensitivity are essential. Second, the inpatient psychologist closely collaborates with the multi-disciplinary inpatient team and facilitates ongoing interdisciplinary education and training opportunities. For example, the inpatient psychologist is expected to present and discuss evidenced based treatment approaches and problem-solving approaches with interdisciplinary treatment teams (providers, SW, residents, nurses, etc). Third, the inpatient psychologist is highly involved in ongoing program development and program evaluation on the inpatient service- not limited to but including primary prevention-intervention efforts, department and institutional leadership development, and service projects. Our overall adult inpatient service includes 63 beds and a very collaborative and interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, APPu2019s, RN's, psychiatric pharmacologists, mental health therapists, recreation therapists, music therapists, chemical dependency counselors, and interdisciplinary trainees. As an educator and supervisor, the successful candidate will also join an enthusiastic team of over 15 psychologists, as well as psychology trainees, in our APA accredited pre-doctoral internship program and post-doctoral fellowship.
