Job Description IMPORTANT NOTE: Only those serving as a permanent Principal Administrative Associate may be considered. The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the systemu2019s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the city. Under the direction of the Program Deputy Director of the Citizen Idling Complaint Unit, with wide latitude for independent judgement the candidate will be responsible to perform detail-oriented administrative work utilizing several databases including CRM database for the processing of summonses. Specifically, the candidate will be directly responsible to review, process and look up of corporations in Department of State, and process certified mail. The candidate will also be responsible for tracking summonses that were dismissed for defective service, as well as performing other difficult administrative duties within the Air & Noise Unit. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills as well as excel proficiency and the ability to work in a team setting. The position requires close attention to detail and organization skills to ensure all permits and inquiries are managed professionally and completed in a timely manner. Excellent written & oral communication skills are mandatory in addition to customer service experience. The candidate may be required to perform a supervisory role under the direction of the Program Deputy Director. The candidate must demonstrate dependability and good attendance. The candidate must be able to adapt and implement new operational procedures. Employees are responsible for assisting the public via phone, in-person, and e-mail, to address questions related to inquiries concerning processing and status of summonses. PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOC - 10124 Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or 2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in
