The IR Thermography Technician is responsible for performing ground and aerial based infrared inspections of overhead distribution and transmission electrical infrastructure, and all applicable use cases across the western United States. This role conducts thermal scanning on a variety of assets and equipment in the electrical utility, oil and gas, and commercial industries. This position is a contract field role with strong opportunity to support multiple programs and clients as Acuren continues to grow its infrared inspection business across the western United States.Conduct inspections of overhead distribution and transmission electrical infrastructure from a moving vehicle, scanning pole-to-pole along assigned circuit routes.Operate IR camera to identify hot spot anomalies on various components and equipmentComply with all applicable safety requirements including daily tailboard completion, HFRA fire safety protocols, traffic control procedures, and required PPE, immediate escalation of high priority findings.Travel extensively throughout the contract period across multiple districts and service territories in the western United StatesOther work duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Demonstrated excellence in work ethicEffective interpersonal and communication skills Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products; familiarity with GPS data logging, circuit tracker management, and GIS-based route data preferredA strong focus on safety and qualityEDUCATION:Infrared Thermography certification (ASNT or equivalent) required at the Level II or Level III requiredMinimum 1-5 years of infrared inspection experience in field environments; prior overhead utility line IR inspection experience strongly preferred.Experience with overhead distribution or transmission electrical infrastructure IR inspection is preferred; prior utility contractor program experience is a strong assetWillingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the contract period across multiple districts in the western United States.Valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required; ability to operate a full-size 4WD pickup truck on mountain, rural, and off-road terrainCompetitive SalaryMedical, dental, and supplemental insurance401K Plan Paid HolidaysPaid Time OffPay Transparency: As per applicable state law the job posting pay range is $34.75 -$57.91 an hourdepending on experience and applicable certificationsWork is performed in outdoor field environments and in the office across varied terrain including suburban, rural, remote, and mountainous districts throughout the western United States. Personnel will conduct extended vehicle and drone based scanning with frequent exposure to heat, cold, wind, direct sun, and vertical terrain. Remote assignments may involve limited cellular coverage. All personnel must comply with applicable safety protocols, traffic control requirements, and Acuren safety programs for each work location.
