Today, Kelly Science is searching for a Research Technologist to join our team at a Fortune 500 Chemical Company in Baytown, TX for a long-term assignment JOB SUMMARY u2022 Perform work in a collaborative environment involving the operation of multiple laboratory instruments. u2022 Run experiments, process samples, follow established procedures and collect analytical data. u2022 The open position is located at the Baytown Technology and Engineering Complex and is based on an 8 hour work day. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS u2022 Maintain lab safety, housekeeping, and security. u2022 Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as 1H NMR, VUV, CHNSO, TGA, PyGC-MS, XRF, Agilent GC, and HPLC instruments. u2022 Calculates, analyzes, and interprets data, properly documents results. u2022 Maintain DIAMS requirements relating to data generation. u2022 Prepare liquid calibration standards. Perform calibration, SQC for data accuracy to ensure proper compliance with guidelines. u2022 Be able to carry out basic GCs maintenance: GC and GCMS inlet, column replacement, GCMS oil pump change . u2022 Upkeep inventory and update P&IDs drawings as necessary. u2022 Good skills in safe handling of many types of hydrocarbons. u2022 Interface with Ph.D. Chemists daily. u2022 Assist with training analytical techniques to new technicians. JOB REQUIREMENTS u2022 Basic knowledge of chemistry; a bacheloru2019s or masteru2019s degree in chemistry is preferred. u2022 Able to perform dilution calculations and execute wet chemistry experiments with minimal supervision. u2022 Capable of performing safe, reliable, and independent laboratory work when provided with problem framing and regular guidance. u2022 Strong problem-solving skills. u2022 Strong attention to accuracy and precision. u2022 Ability to learn new techniques as needed. u2022 Ability to read and follow detailed instructions. u2022 Ability to work in a team environment. u2022 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal. u2022 Strong Excel experience, capable of interfacing with advanced computer software.
