Full Time & Part Time (15hrs) Available The Speech-Language Pathologist in the school setting is responsible for performing student evaluations as well as providing and documenting therapy services in accordance with the plan of care developed for each individual student and the physician's orders. Job Overview A Speech Teacher is an educator specializing in teaching effective communication skills through speech therapy and language development. This role involves working with students who may have speech, language, or communication disorders, helping them overcome challenges and improve their ability to communicate effectively. Speech Teachers work in various educational settings, including schools, colleges, and special education programs, collaborating closely with other educational staff and healthcare professionals to create a supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs. Speech Teacher Responsibilities & Duties Assessing and diagnosing speech, language, and communication disorders in students. Developing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs. Providing direct speech and language therapy to students. Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other educational staff to support student progress. Employing various teaching strategies and techniques to improve communication skills. Monitoring and documenting student progress and adjusting plans as necessary. Conducting speech and language screenings and evaluations. Educating students and parents on effective communication techniques. Maintaining up-to-date records and reports in compliance with school policies. Participating in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices. Facilitating small group and individual therapy sessions as required. Utilizing technology and speech therapy tools to enhance learning. Speech Teacher Qualifications & Skills -Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field. -Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). -State licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist. -Previous experience working in an educational setting. -Strong interpersonal and communication skills. -Proficiency in using speech therapy software and tools. -Experience with creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs). Knowledge of various speech and language disorders and treatments. -Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Education, or a related field. -Valid teaching certification or licensure as required by the state. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Ability to assess and treat speech, language, and communication disorders. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills. -Compassionate and patient demeanor. -Collaborative skills to work effectively with other educators and professionals. -Proficiency in assessment and diagnostic tools for speech and language disorders.
