Job Description: Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Sr Structural Bridge Engineer SME to join our team In this role you will get to work on the premier Infrastructure project in the US. Program background _The Gateway Program is the most urgent infrastructure program in the country u2013 a comprehensive set of rail investments that will improve commuter and intercity services, add needed resiliency and, in its later stages, create new capacity between Newark, New Jersey and New York City, the busiest section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC). The first phase of the Gateway Program includes the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP), which includes the construction of a new two-track tunnel under the Hudson River connecting to Penn Station New York as well as the full rehabilitation of the existing 110-year-old North River Tunnel. The Gateway Development Commission (GDC), established through bi-state legislation, is responsible for the financing and development of the Hudson Tunnel Project._ Position Summary The Senior Bridge Structural Engineer will provide technical leadership and expertise in the design, review, and construction oversight of bridge and structural elements for the Hudson Tunnel Project. This role is responsible for ensuring that all bridge-related activities meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory compliance, while supporting project management, coordination, and quality assurance. What You'll Be Doing: Structural Design & Review u00b7 Lead the design and review of bridge and structural components, ensuring compliance with project specifications, design standards, and regulatory requirements. u00b7 Advise on constructability, feasibility, value engineering, and sustainability for bridge structures. u00b7 Review design documents, drawings, and specifications prepared by the Engineer of Record and contractors. u00b7 Ensure integration of bridge designs with other project elements and packages. Construction Oversight & Field Support u00b7 Provide technical support during construction, including oversight of bridge-related activities and resolution of field issues. u00b7 Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and change orders related to bridge and structural work. u00b7 Monitor progress against milestones and ensure timely completion of bridge construction activities. Quality Assurance & Testing u00b7 Support implementation of quality management plans for bridge and structural works. u00b7 Conduct quality audits and inspections to confirm compliance with project and industry standards. u00b7 Verify contractor compliance with testing and inspection plans, and review results for accuracy and completeness. u00b7 Maintain systematic records of all testing, inspection, and acceptance activities for bridge structures. Project Controls & Reporting u00b7 Support schedule management and cost estimating for bridge-related activities. u00b7 Contribute to risk management by identifying potential structural risks and recommending mitigation strategies. u00b7 Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and documentation for bridge and structural work. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement u00b7 Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment across project packages. u00b7 Participate in meetings, technical briefings, and coordination sessions related to bridge and structural engineering. u00b7 Support interface management by integrating bridge activities with other project disciplines. Compliance & Safety u00b7 Ensure all bridge and structural activities comply with federal, state, and local codes, standards, and permitting processes. u00b7 Support implementation of safety management plans and procedures for bridge construction. u00b7 Advise on safety improvements and incident mitigation related to bridge works. Qualifications: Education & Experience u00b7 Bacheloru2019s or Masteru2019s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related field. u00b7 Professional Engineer (PE) license required. u00b7 Minimum 10 years of experience in bridge and structural engineering, with significant experience on large-scale infrastructure or transportation projects. u00b7 Experience with federally funded projects and regulatory compliance is preferred. Technical Skills u00b7 Advanced knowledge of bridge design, analysis, and construction methods. u00b7 Proficiency with structural engineering software and design tools. u00b7 Experience with quality assurance, testing, and inspection processes for bridge structures. Project Management & Communication u00b7 Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. u00b7 Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. u00b7 Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement. Compliance & Quality u00b7 Understanding of relevant codes, standards, and permitting processes for bridge and structural works. u00b7 Experience in change management, risk management, and dispute resolution. Preferred Attributes u00b7 Experience working on tunnel, rail, or major transportation infrastructure projects. u00b7 Ability to proactively identify structural risks and drive solutions. u00b7 Commitment to safety, sustainability, and innovation in bridge engineering.
