Job Description

Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Associate u2013 Cable Handling Job Description This role focuses on shipping, receiving, and handling cable products in a warehouse environment. You will cut, spool, inspect, and prepare cables according to customer orders and production work orders while maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring product quality and traceability. Responsibilities + Remove cable from stock based on order cut schedules, production work orders, and written instructions. + Visually inspect cable for damage, defects, length, and accuracy, ensuring item labels match the print legend, and promptly notify a supervisor of any discrepancies. + Spool and cut finished cables to specified lengths according to customer requests and production work order requirements. + Follow all special instructions for cable preparation, including exposing cable ends, stripping cable, and preparing and securing reels for shipment in line with company policies and procedures. + Complete quality checklists for all shipments and production orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. + Place finished products in the designated customer pickup area or outgoing shipment area to maintain an organized workflow. + Ensure prepared spools are sent to the designated assembly area as required. + Scan reels, picking tickets, and production work orders into the companyu2019s operational software (SAP) to maintain product and order traceability. + Assist with regular cycle counting and physical inventory stock takes to support accurate inventory control. + Wash existing print legends from cables as needed to meet order requirements. + Print cable legends onto cables as required for specific orders. + Support general shipping and receiving activities, including packing, loading, and unloading materials as needed. + Use basic computer applications to input data, update records, and support shipping, receiving, and inventory tasks. Essential Skills + At least 3 years of experience in a warehouse environment, shipping and receiving, or order pulling. + Proficiency using computers to perform basic data entry and documentation tasks. + Experience working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment. + Ability to perform cycle counts or support inventory control activities. + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties. + High school diploma or GED. + Strong attention to detail when inspecting, measuring, and labeling cable products. + Ability to follow written instructions, work orders, and special instructions accurately. + Reliability in working a first-shift schedule and staying late when required to meet workload demands. + Comfort working in a team-oriented environment and collaborating closely with coworkers. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including packing, loading, and unloading materials. + Experience in general labor or production work in a warehouse or manufacturing setting. + Familiarity with inventory practices and cycle counting as a plus. + Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and related basic office software. + Exposure to operational or ERP software such as SAP for scanning and tracking orders is beneficial. + Ability to work efficiently with repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and accuracy. + Willingness to learn specific cable handling techniques, including spooling, cutting, stripping, and printing legends. Work Environment The role is based in a large warehouse assembly area with substantial workbenches designed to hold cable reels and assemblies. The facility is not climate controlled, so temperatures will reflect seasonal conditions. You will work closely with a team of about five people in a collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere that maintains a small company feel while being part of a larger corporate structure. This is a first-shift position, typically running from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the expectation that you can start earlier or stay later, often until 6:00 or 7:00 p.m., and work additional hours or weekends as needed based on workload. You will regularly handle cable reels, use spooling and cutting equipment, and operate basic computer systems and SAP software to scan and track orders. Attire should be appropriate for a warehouse environment, allowing for safe lifting, movement, and work around equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
