Summary: The Corporate Finance Projects and Assets Accounting Manager plays a critical role in managing the financial accounting and reporting of capital projects and fixed assets within an academic healthcare environment. This position ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements, while supporting the financial stewardship of capital investments, research infrastructure, and clinical expansion projects. This position reports to the RUSH System Director of Accounting Operations. They serve as a key liaison between finance, facilities, and operations. This role must support financial integrity, oversee the Projects and Assets department, and foster collaboration across departments and facilities. This is a RUSH system-level role which encompasses RUMC (RUH, University, and Ambulatory Pharmacy), ROPH, RCMC, Rush Health, RMG, and joint ventures. Other information: u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in accounting or related field u2022 At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in fixed asset and capital project accounting within a healthcare, academic, or large nonprofit organization. u2022 3+ years of direct supervisory experience, including performance management, team development, and cross-functional collaboration. u2022 Demonstrated experience managing capital budgets, reconciling fixed asset subledgers, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP. [SC1.1][AR1.2] u2022 Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as Lawson and Workday, including asset tagging, depreciation runs, and reconciliation reporting. [SC2.1][AR2.2] u2022 Proven track record of supporting external audits, preparing schedules, and maintaining documentation for audit readiness. u2022 Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy. u2022 Effective communication, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills. u2022 Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines u2022 Familiarity with ASC 360, ASC 450, and ASC 958-605 standards related to property, contingencies, and donor-funded capital assets. Preferred Job Qualifications: u2022 Experience working with Facilities, IT, Research Administration, and Sponsored Programs to ensure accurate asset tracking and reporting. Responsibilities: Capital Project Accounting: u2022 Oversee accounting for construction, renovation, and IT infrastructure projects across hospital and academic facilities. u2022 Collaborate with Facilities, Research Administration, and IT to ensure accurate tracking of project costs and funding sources (e.g., grants, philanthropy, debt). u2022 Ensure compliance with GAAP, particularly: o ASC 360 u2013 Property, Plant, and Equipment o ASC 450 u2013 Contingencies (for project risks and obligations) o ASC 958-605 u2013 Contributions Received and Made (for donor-funded capital) u2022 Monitor project budgets, commitments, and actuals; ensure timely capitalization and closeout. Fixed Assets Management: u2022 Demonstrates advanced knowledge of fixed asset accounting principles, including asset classification, depreciation methodologies, and disposal procedures. u2022 Performs monthly and quarterly reconciliations between the fixed asset subledger and general ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and institutional policies. u2022 Identifies and resolves discrepancies related to asset acquisitions, transfers, retirements, and impairments. u2022 Collaborates with Biomedical Engineering, IT, and Facilities to validate asset records and ensure proper tagging and tracking. u2022 Utilizes ERP systems such as Lawson and Workday to manage asset data and generate reconciliation reports. u2022 Perform monthly depreciation runs and reconcile to the general ledger. u2022 Ensure lease related assets under ASC 842 are properly recognized, amortized and monitored.
