Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._ Responsibilities: Performs liquid chromatography-coupled tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) based analysis of complex biological samples as part of a metabolomics focused shared resource lab. Works with the technical director of the Metabolomics Resource lab to perform routine lab maintenance, process samples, run LC-MS/MS instruments, and analyze mass spectrometry data. Provides technical expertise in support of metabolism focused research projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + Operation of LC-MS/MS system. Follow SOPu2019s for system maintenance and setup for analysis of sample material. This includes system cleaning, equilibration, calibration, and input of analysis methods. May include troubleshooting with minimal supervision. + Pre-LC-MS/MS sample processing. Follow SOPu2019s for sample processing prior to LC-MS/MS analysis, including independent operation of processing equipment. Includes communication/coordination with other labs regarding sample submission and pre-submission needs. + Analysis of experimental and quality control data. This involves applying LC-MS/MS specific analysis pipelines to acquired sample data for the purpose of evaluating quality of acquired data and ultimately the generation of data reports containing experiment results. May involve analysis pipeline modifications with minimal supervision. + Ordering lab reagents and other routine laboratory maintenance tasks + Works closely with Principal Investigator to modify or develop new methods of sample processing and analysis. May include performing reviews of the literature and applying acquired knowledge in the design of new experimental methods. + Provides technical oversight to lower-level research technicians. + Coordinates the training and performance of lower-level technicians and + students. + Other duties as assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE + High School diploma or GED required + Bacheloru2019s degree in related discipline such as chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology, or other relevant biomedical science preferred. + 5 years experience with performing basic chemistry and/or molecular biology related laboratory tasks, such as pipetting, solution preparation, and sample handling/transfer, and data collection required. + or equivalent combination of education and experience + Biochemistry and/or analytical chemistry background, which will facilitate training on LC-MS/MS instrumentation preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES + Experience with R-based scripting, Windows and MacIntosh-based programs for spreadsheets, word processing, and graphics required.
