Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Midlothian, Virginia. This role requires a strategic thinker who can also manage hands-on tasks while overseeing key financial operations. Responsibilities: u2022 Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable and entry level accounting staff. u2022 Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports. u2022 Handle cost accounting processes to support business decisions and improve profitability. u2022 Monitor and ensure compliance with sales tax regulations and filings. u2022 Provide strategic financial insights to guide organizational planning and decision-making. u2022 Supervise the compilation, scanning, and documentation of critical financial records. u2022 Maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets. u2022 Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency. u2022 Train and mentor accounting staff to enhance their growth and performance. u2022 Address and resolve complex accounting issues in a timely manner. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in a Controller role or similar financial leadership position. u2022 Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices. u2022 Expertise in managing sales tax compliance and reporting. u2022 Demonstrated ability to oversee and develop accounting teams. u2022 Proficiency in document control and scanning techniques. u2022 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. u2022 Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
